LONDON PAYS TRIBUTE TO DAVID BOWIE Helping make the globe mine free Vegans Worship at the Temple of Seitan Brits make changes after last years fallout Massoud Hassani has designed a wind pow- ered device that he hopes can help the world become mine free by 2027. The metal ball surrounded by bamboo sticks will be blown across minefields to clear them. Each device can withstand up to 4 blasts and only costs £33 to make. The Brits includes 20 non-white nominations this year following last years huge fallout at the lack of minority group artists includ- ed. Only 4 hit the nominations list last year, prompting several artists including Skepta & Laura Mvula to call out the awards and Twitter exploding with #BritsSoWhite trending. By now, you've probably heard of the latest new food phenomenon to hit London - the city's first vegan fried chicken shop. Like London's cereal cafe Cereal Killer and cat cafe, Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium, the restaurant is causing a stir with its novel theme and menu. The restaurant serves seitan, a vegan meat substitute made from wheat-gluten. It wraps it up in the delicious form of deep-fried, chick- en-style goujons, serving it with sides like Coleslaw and chips. Located in Hackney, called Temple of Seitan, the restaurant is sure to attract hordes of seit- an worshippers. It has been a year since the iconic musician's tragic passing to cancer. On the 21st January millions of women and men marched all around the world to protest for women's rights and against Trump's misogynist views. It is said to be the biggest collective march in years. Thousands of Londoners paid tribute to the Brixton-born singer through a mixture of events on January 8th. On Sunday 8th January which would have been Bowie's 70th Birthday, Iman Bowie paid tribute to her late husband of over two decades, posting on Twitter a beautiful sketch of Bowie as a child sporting the infamous Ziggy Stardust lightning bolt. Accompanying the drawing is the message '8th #ForeverLove #BowieForever.' In his hometown, hundreds of fans are set to attend the anniversary and to pay their respects at the Mural dedicated to him. While in Brixton's Ritzy Cinema, a one off viewing of three of Bowie's short films including 'The Image' will be shown. Across London in Picturehouse Cinemas and LSFF's David Bowie will be playing as an anniversary programme and as part of their Discover Tuesday. Over 100,000 people gathered together in London in solidarity with the march held in Washington DC and with others around the world. The aim? To show everybody that Women's Rights are Human Rights and Human Rights are Women's Rights. The march in London started from Grosvenor Square and ended with a powerful rally in Trafalgar Square where you could see thousands of posters such as: "Pussies unite", "Dump Trump", "This pussy grabs back", "Don't grab it, eat it!" and many more worth gold. The march was also taken part by many famous A-listers such as Sir Ian McKellen, Peter Capaldi, Lily Allen and many others. Even London's Mayor Sadiq Khan was there to support the cause. This happened just few days before Trump signed a paper (one of his first since being signed into the office), that stops federal money going to international groups that provide information and guidance on abortions and family planning. Another decision about women made in a room full of men. Why the fuck do we still have to march for women's BASIC rights in 2017?
