GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS: BLAINE STRANGER 42 ISSUE 95/ 2016 Heading back to Electric Brixton with another roadblock party. The rising drum & bass producer Sam Braithwaite-Lloyd has topped off one hell of a 2016. Hailing from Sydney, he's enjoyed his biggest year yet becoming one of Australia's fastest rising names in the drum & bass world. So far in 2017 things have only got better. Right at the tail end of 2016 he dropped a massive debut single on Viper and quickly followed up in 2017 with a fresh track for Viper's annual drum & bass album. Landing on Viper doesn't come easily, highlighting the talent this guy has. It's still early days for this producer - but if he keeps going the way he's is than there's no limit to how far he'll go. Keep you eyes peeled on this one! Once again heading proceedings is the man, the legend - none other than LTJ Bukem himself. The pioneering producer has an almighty collection of tracks and has a supreme mixing style that's been dominating the clubs for years. He's joined by another legend in the game, DJ Marky. The Brazilian don will sure turn up the heat at this party. Joining them both is another mega-star, drum & bass' first lady - DJ Storm. Long time Metalheadz affiliate, she recently tore down the Boiler Room with an insane set of classic jungle tunes that have defied the genre. Expect the same here. Tom Central will also be down, tearing out a golden era set to finish off this big line up. ALBUM OF THE MONTH: BINARY CODES The imprint's platform for upcoming artists compiled 13 of the freshest cuts from producers like Kije, Signal & Kung. Starting back in 2014, Critical's Binary series was started to release the freshest drum & bass from the lesser known artists emerging in the scene. It's a platform for them to flaunt their skills and already the series boasts material from Hyroglifics, Signal and Klax. In total Binary has released 13 releases, with their latest seeing them ditch there usual EP setup for a heavy compilation - The Codes is a 13 tracker that perfectly demonstrates exactly what Binary is all about. The tracklisting covers all things technical with half time hits, pulsating sonics and out-right face melters. Binary is just a part of the Critical empire who've been major players in the more heavy hitting, neurofunk scene. Over the label's 15 year history they've established themselves at the cutting edge of drum & bass. Always looking for the next big thing, Critical are the go to label for the; freshest, most experimental sounds around. Binary has made them more deserving of this status, the Binary Codes LP captures this vibe perfectly.
