Augustine Institute launches new audio drama series The Augustine Institute has quickly become a leader in Catholic media, responsible for several suc- cessful video series and the online content platform FORMED, and now they're trying their hand in a new medium: audio drama. Called the Augus- tine Institute Radio Theatre, the fi rst series launched on EWTN Global Catho- lic Radio Oct. 2, and is a 10-part series that retraces the life of St. Francis of Assisi, directed by Paul McCusker. McCusker was the writer/director behind the ever-pop- ular Adventures in Odyssey series cre- ated by Focus on the Family, and con- verted to Catholicism in 2009. There are plans to release a second series about St. Patrick this year on, fi t- tingly, St. Patrick's Day. To learn more about AI Radio The- atre and to order a copy for yourself, visit augustineinstitute.org/ air-theatre. From Naval oŽ cer to Benedictine nun The paths God leads his people on often take unex- pected turns; for Sister Eliza- beth Baumgartner, however, she never could have imagined going from active duty to a life of prayer. Sister Baumgartner made her solemn vows and consecrated her life to God as the newest professed Benedictine nun at the Abbey of St. Walburga Nov. 6. Before entering the monastery in August 2008, she spent 15 years on active military duty as a Naval o® cer — seven years as a communications o® cer and eight years as a Cryp- tologic o® cer. She served both on shore and on ships and was stationed all around the world throughout her career. Now, she will spend the remainder of her days on earth serving the Lord, the Church and the community. "I pray that I … [bring] Christ to those around me," Sister Baumgartner said. "To be a faith- ful Benedictine nun, preserving the 'school of the Lord's service' all the days of my life." She received her religious name, Elizabeth, when she made her fi rst vows, and it was only fi tting that it fell on the Solem- nity of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist. "My patroness is St. Eliz- abeth, mother of St. John the Baptist, so it was very beautiful that the Abbess chose the Solem- nity of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist as the date of my fi rst profession of monastic vows," she said.
