Regional Training F or the 9th consecutive year, STAR is partnering with member facilities across the U.S. to offer Regional Training Programs. STAR has put together a schedule of Regional Training Programs that allows members to access our NHL-endorsed Certified Ice Technician (CIT) courses while not trav- eling too far. Each year, through STAR's Alliance with the Ontario Recreation Facilities Association (O.R.F.A.) and relationships with industry professionals, we work hard to bring you a program that emphasizes fundamental, time-tested principles as well as the latest industry trends, innovations and best practices. We hope that—by taking the time to invest in yourself, your facility and your career by attending a Regional Training Program—we all will be "serving" the American rinks together. CIT Program T he CIT designation will be granted to professionals in the United States who successfully complete the industry-related, multi-level training program involving the following courses: • Basic Refrigeration (BR) • Ice Making & Painting Technologies (IMPT) • Ice Maintenance & Equipment Operation (IMEO) Participants in each level are required to successfully complete a competency- based examination obtaining a mark equal to or greater than 60%. FOMA T he STAR/O.R.F.A. Alliance remains the educational choice of the NHL's Facility Operations Managers Association (FOMA) and will be involved with FOMA's annual meetings in Phoenix from June 24-29. ★ star News 52 R INK MAGAZ INE may/june 2009 STARrinks.com Dates Location Co-Host Facility Courses May 11-14 Chicago, IL The Crowne Plaza NARCE June 15-18 Dallas, TX Dr. Pepper Stars Center BR June 29 - July 2 Midland, MI Midland Civic Arena IMEO July 20-23 Everett, WA Comcast Event Center IMPT/BR August 24-27 Council Bluffs, IA Mid-America Center IMEO/BR September 14-17 Andover, MA Phillips Academy IMPT/BR October 5-8 Burnsville, MN Burnsville Ice Center IMEO 2009 Regional Training Programs COURSES: Basic Refrigeration (BR), Ice Making & Painting Technologies (IMPT), Ice Maintenance & Equipment (IMEO) recognized by
