The hard-hitting documentary tells the
story of the civil rights movement in the
1960's, told through the letters of writer
James Baldwin and voiced in a chillingly
poetic way by Samuel L. Jackson.
Clips and interviews of famous civil rights
activists such as Martin Luther King Jr. and
Malcolm X are montaged with photographs
of the violence and protests, to bring forth
the reality of what really happened during
that time, a struggle which today, especially
in the UK, can often be forgotten about.
More than 30 years on Baldwin's writing
still resonates with the times that we live in,
from police brutality, instutionlised racism
and everyday discrimination, it is obvious
that there is still so many civil rights
problems that are far from gone.
I Am Not Your Negro reminds us that the
struggle is far from over, but the possibility
of change can still happen if we can all
work together to change things.
WHY WE SHOULD ALL GO OUT
AND WATCH 'I AM NOT YOUR
NEGRO'
I Am Not Your Negro has a message that every person in
the western world should make note of.
