In a few years we will be looking at contemporary classics, among the many other great albums that will be mentioned What you need by Goose will be high up that list. Want to know why? The record is heavily synth focused and combines intricately crafted electronica with a traditional pop vibe. The title track 'What You Need' is a highlight and the vocals don't overshadow or drown out the excellently structured synth layers. The LP is very well structured and the experimental songs on the album are slow-burning pieces of technical brilliance, 'Call Me' being a particular favourite because of its excellent guitar hook, and superb use of layering. Slovenia's finest techno guru UMEK has just dropped his new single titled 'Shadow Tactics'! A campaign has been launched to get the classic trance anthem 'Children' by the late Robert Miles to number 1 in the charts. All people need to do is stream, play and download the epic track as much as possible. It followed the sad news of his passing in early May. The much loved producer was a iconic name in the Trance movement of the 90s and his passing was meant to huge sadness from the electronic music community. Tributes poured in from thousands of people including Pete Tong. Having been at the forefront of the techno-house scene for near on twenty years and releasing music through various labels, including his own record label, the Slovenian native has gone back to his signature raw techno style and it makes for a pulsating track. The sharp synths and industrial effects are the centre-piece of this track, with elements of drum and bass layered through the song it's very well put together and does a good job of showcasing Umek's talent for keeping a crowd moving with rhythm and big beats! 'Shadow Tactics' is being released through Form music, a label that has earned a reputation for well- crafted dance music and it looks like that reputation is only going to grow with a tune like this.
