NEWS: UK-BASED LIFESTYLE MUSIC DROPPED ONE OF THEIR MOST AMBITIOUS PROJECTS YET. Was A Be follow up from their Shogun debut last year with a belting EP. Entitled the Australian Connection, they've sourced some of the countries most promising producers for an album showcasing the talent that exists there. A healthy balance of unknown names sit with the more established talents for a collection of records representing Aussie drum & bass to full effect. Lockjaw, Dauntless & Gran Calavera are some of the bigger names of the contributors, who are joined with a fist full of emerging talents including Ewol, VLTRN & Okuli. Two years in the making, it features rough rollers to fat steppers - Lifestyle Music have brought the best sounds emulating from the country to their imprint for this special release. It's the Italian's first release since signing exclusively with Shogun, and they've gone for a package that delves deep into different styles spanning half beat cuts to killer 4x4 stompers. The guys said the EP is an "evolution of our sound, not a repetition of our previous work" as they worked to create something they felt was really Shogun. On the EP is the 4x4 blaster, 'Jamming'. A collab with Neve, it briefly reminisces with epic rave synths before descending into pure chaos. Bold bass stabs work to keep the beat bouncing as a percussion works with a modern twist to jungle's old clashing style. TRACK OF THE MONTH: WAS A BE & NEVE - JAMMING ARTIST OF THE MONTH: DJ VAPOUR If you're down on this jungle thing, than of course you know of the DJ Vapour. He's earned his stripes as a DJ, producer and radio host; dedicated to delivering and sharing the best in jungle drum & bass music in the circuit. Throughout his career his tunes have been picked up by Critical, Philly Blunt and C.I.A and since 2007 he's been dropping quality music from himself and others on his 36 Hertz imprint. He also hosts the 36 Hertz radio show on Kool London along with Indigo Virus. Since embarking on his career in music, Vapour has built a solid reputation as a DJ who doesn't stick to sub-genres. He'd rather do the full cycle of sounds and styles in his sets and productions. Which is exactly what he's done with his latest album, Beatopia. He tears through a spectrum of sounds that taps into the 90s vibes while throwing in modern quirks. He delivers stinking rollers, spacey trips, even chucking in a hard metal/dnb hybrid with Tommie Radford. 36 ISSUE 99 / 2017 DRUM & BASS PLAYLIST Here's the drum and bass on our playlist this month: Natural Blues (Icicle Remix) Moby Move Up Your Body Kumarachi Hurt Your Love RMS Reverse Nirvana Dauntless
