42 ISSUE 99 / 2017 INDIE The rock-pop quartet arrived on the scene with their animated and bustling track 'The Mile Road', which has recently been followed up with 'Live By Design' and its thought-provoking new visuals. This year's festival will include a diverse range of new and established acts from the 6th to the 16th of July! 'Live By Design' holds faithful to the energetic, dreamy sensibilities of the band's previous releases, but this time, they have pushed forward to deliver a much more satisfying bite. It's been granted a darker gloss, with deeper, thumping bass, before splashing into an electric, and explosive dance-rock finish. 'Live By Design', both in song and mirrored in its video, portray the constraints of the everyday routine and its restrictions on our freedom. The imagery of boxes, pigeon holes and paths to be strictly followed eventually become destroyed in an exhilarating twist, and those expectations we were supposed to fulfill come crashing down, one foot print at a time. It is obvious to see that even in their early stages Ivy Nations are setting the dance-rock world on fire, and we hope they continue to do so. Including electronic duo Goldfrapp, indie quartet Foster the People and the legendary Norah Jones. The nine-time Grammy award winner will be opening the festival, treating fans to a mix of old and new songs at her only London gig of 2017. While South London singer-songwriter Tom Misch will be making his debut at the festival after establishing himself as one of the capital's hottest new acts with his funk-inspired electronic sound. Bringing a touch of the Middle East to the proceedings are Mashrou' Leila, an indie band from Beirut who combine pop and politics. Tickets only start from £29.50 and are available now! ARTIST OF THE MONTH: FEIST Canadian artist Leslie Fiest, has tackled the traditional theme of love and heart- break, with tales of a bumpy past and lost loves, in her 5th LP Pleasure. Opening the album is the title track 'Pleasure', with its background the source to the rest of the album's exploration. 'Pleasure' is dominated by a sudden and isolated grunge chord that cracks onto the scene, reflecting her lonesome and rocky state. Her track construction is placed within an intensely inward-looking scope, backed by an ever-changing soundscape; as one track builds up its genre, the next wipes it away and delivers its own. The vein of the record split as its lifespan rides out. From dampened ballads to folk injected recipes, pangs of earthy rock and tracks rippled with blues. Feist's label has described the album as "an exploration into emotional limits", which is definitely its finest quality. With an ever developing soundscape and her beautiful, flickering vocals, Feist has created a love album that is hard to put down.
