50 ISSUE 99 / 2017 REGGAE TRACK OF THE MONTH: WAILING TREES After several postponed dates we can finally confirm the date for Damian Marley's solo album Stony Hill will be on July the 21st 2017! Wailing Trees' What a Gwaan?' Is a reggae banger with a funky twist With an infectious beat that you can't help but nod your head and tap your feet to, this is no ordinary reggae track. Elements of funk and jazz are thrown into the mix alongside a music video featuring a reggae MC in gold spandex leggings! As Wailing Trees go to various places, smashing shit with baseball bats for no apparent reason, there's something for everyone to enjoy in our reggae track of the month. Following the announcement Marley has also released the official 'Medication' single, featuring Stephen 'Ragga' Marley. Which is essentially a 420 anthem, that is bound to be played at every future 'weed day' event. From speaking on the medicinal purposes of the 'green leaf' to growing it naturally without any chemicals, Marley has made the perfect track for any pot smoker. While the albums artwork and tracklist have not been confirmed yet, here are a batch of songs that will be included on the 18 track album: ' Bitter Blood', 'Caution', 'Everybody Wants To Be Somebody' 'Here I Come Again' and 'Livin' It Up'. For now the only confirmed guest appearances on Stony Hill will be Stephen Marley and Major Myjah. NEWS: DAMIAN MARLEY ANNOUNCES STONY HILL ALBUM RELEASE DATE! ALBUM OF THE MONTH: PASSAFIRE Passafire take listeners through a full spectrum of emotions, from heart break, overcoming personal struggles and finding new truths with their 6th album Long- shot. Longshot is a genre defying mix of reggae, hard rock and hip hop. The title track 'Longshot' resonates with anyone that has ever been told that turning their dream turn into a reality is a longshot. While their next track 'Blow' tackles the current paranoia surrounding the government and its questionable surveillance of innocent civilians. Featuring Mr.Lif a Boston based hip hop artist and nine time 'Boston Music Award' winner, this is a track that's bound to be on constant replay on your summer playlist. However songs like 'Drifter', 'Bright', 'Rapunzel' and 'Growing Up' showcase the maturity the band has gained by years on and off the road. Each song on the album is layered with deep lyrical content and dynamic grooves that will leave you digging at so many emotions, as lead singer Ted says, "There's no one-way to feel on this album, it's a rollercoaster."
