Colliers International reported the Bali hotel market saw six new hotels begin operation during Q1 2017, contributing 943 rooms. The number of star-rated hotel projects in Bali is now registered at 519 contributing 56,802 rooms, with a total 3,258 hotel rooms from the budget hotel category. In 2017, Bali is anticipating 1,144 additional 4-star hotel rooms and 312 5-star hotel rooms but Colliers does not expect this to have a major impact on hotel performance as room demand will be fuelled by meetings and conventions. Between 2017 year-to-date and 2019, there are projected to be an additional 17,681 hotel rooms for an increase of 31% bringing the total number of star-rated hotel rooms in Bali to 74,483. There has been no new budget hotel in Bali since Q4 2016, and thus the total budget hotel rooms hovered at 3,258. This year, the market will potentially receive two new budget hotel developments that are now under construction and will provide 210 additional rooms. Hotel occupancy in Q1 2017 rose from 66.7% to 67.4%, which also triggered the increase in the average daily rate (ADR) from US$110.50 to US$114.50 this quarter.
