ooking out at the icy expanse at the USA Hockey Arena and see-
ing some of the most talented young netminders in the country
is a shooter's worst nightmare.
For U.S. National Team Goaltending Coach Kevin Reiter, it's a beau-
tiful sight that gives him hope for the future.
The 10th annual Warren Strelow National Team Goaltending Camp
was more than just another evaluation camp. It's a launching pad
designed to help some of the top goaltending prospects take their
game to the next level.
The elite four-day camp focuses on both the mental and physical
aspects of goaltending, helping each of the 30 invitees master the
fundamentals of the position while developing a personal identity that
translates to in-game success.
"This really sets the foundation to work on to take their game to
the next level. They have the information but now they have to go out
and do it," said Reiter, who has run the camp for the past four years.
The camp is also an opportunity for some of the top coaches to get
together and talk all things goalie.
