14 BASKETBALL LEAGUES In 2014, Danvers Indoor Sports launched its Men's Basketball League. The first session attracted 10 teams in a single division, and now, in its 11th season, it features 56 teams across five divisions. Players come from all over the North Shore of Massachusetts, and some players even drive from New Hampshire. They come from a variety of athletic backgrounds, including high schools and more than 30 colleges. DIS also hosts a Women's Basketball League each summer, with expansion plans for a year-round program. It currently features 10 teams. Like the Men's League, women's teams include players from nearby colleges and other amateurs. Officials for both leagues are certified by the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials in Massachusetts. SOCCER LEAGUES From fall through spring, Danvers Indoor Sports runs a full slate of soccer programming: U8 to U19 leagues for boys and girls, adult leagues for men and women for a variety of age brackets and adult coed play, which goes year-round. The Spookfest soccer tournament kicks off each fall season. Teams, staff and attendees dress up and have fun. The league attracts both local teams and those from surrounding towns. Staff works hard to place them in an appropriate division to their skill. Game play is 7–on–7. Like in basketball, soccer referees at Danvers are certified and well-versed on house rules.
