52 ISSUE 101 / 2017 REGGAE TRACK OF THE MONTH: BUGLE Jamaica is commonly associated around the world with two things; reggae music and cannabis. Bugle's 'People' is a reggae banger that will leave you high on life. With lyricism packed full of positive energy and wise words, Bugle is simply doing what he does best. Making us feel good, while doing what he loves most. 'People' touches on what most people obsesses about, worrying about what others think. In Bugle's own words " Don't worry about people, when they talk it cause you important." Using a deep bass, intertwined with an infectious beat and catchy lyricism, Bugle has done it again. This is another hit that is bound to be on constant repeat on your reggae playlist. The consumption and cultivation of weed in Jamaica has become a million dollar industry and Jamaican reggae band Raging Fyah are capitalising on this, by releasing their own strain, called Everlasting Kush. The name comes from their Grammy-nominated album Everlasting and the venture makes them the next Jamaican band to actually invest in the cannabis industry after the Marleys. Despite smoking being a key part of Jamaican culture, weed is not yet legalised in the country. Therefore, the strain will be available in Colorado. The deal for the strain was signed with Elite Organics, a Colorado-based company, who, as the name suggests are truly organic. Their weed plants grow are not only chemical free but also use a process which involves techniques such as hand trimming, for a truly organic experience. Raging Fyah have clearly chosen a good company to do a deal with here, and if weed is legalised in Jamaica, the strain could become available there too. NEWS: REGGAE BAND RAGING FYAH NOW HAVE THEIR OWN STRAIN OF WEED ALBUM OF THE MONTH: DAMIAN MARLEY The highly anticipated Stony Hill album is here! It took over a decade, but the wait was worth it. Opening up with 'Here We Go' a upbeat track that pulls you in effortlessly and leaves you hooked from beginning to end. It's clear Damian's still got it. Each single on Stony Hill is unique in nature, from 'Living It Up' a funky & hopeful song to 'R.O.A.R', filled with dancehall rhythms and aggressive beats, Damian isn't messing around. Obvious highlights are 'Medication', 'Living It Up' and 'Grown & Sexy', which also features Stephen Marley. In comparison to Damian's 2005 LP Welcome To Jamrock, Stony Hill comes off more mature but generally it's the same vibe. Its good riddims seasoned with gold nuggets of wisdom, whether you want to 'turn up' or for those times you need to reflect, Stony Hill will be all you need.
