BACK TO THE FUTURE! Welcome to the Tijuana 21st SCORE Desert Challenge Preview Issue! We are excited to review the city that started it all, Tijuana, Baja, MX! This “gateway” city for most us entering Mexico, has had a steep tradition hosting the very first Baja 1000 and later the 1995 SCORE Baja 1000. Tijuana is deeply ingrained into the cultural heritage of the SCORE World Desert Racing Championship series from participants and fans alike. The recent surge in downtown activity and their restaurant, hotel growth and even the development of their world renowned “Craft Beer” industry, will provide SCORE racers, team and fan base a great experience for SCORE’s Desert Challenge race format. Tijuana is latest host for this Desert Challenge, short mileage, multi-loop race, continuing this annual format for the SCORE International series. This 21st year builds on the racing heritage of the Laughlin, NV, Imperial Valley, CA and most recently, Rosarito Beach, Baja, MX, Desert Challenge locations. Additional Congratulations to the Global SCORE International racer and fan base! Once again, the USA Today reader poll picks the SCORE Baja 1000 as the “Top Motorsports Race Event” in the highly prestigious USA Today’s Top 10 Reader Poll. The SCORE Baja 1000 also won in the initial 2015 Reader Poll keeping a clean sweep for every year the “The Best Motorsports Race” reader poll has taken place. Read more inside about the amazing race events that we beat out to take the win! Finally, as we are fast approaching the historic SCORE Baja 1000 50th Anniversary, we are excited to present three more legendary icons that made this race so special. Check out the one-on-one with legends Malcom Smith and Bud Feldkamp and their infamous “Bel-Rey Bullet” and Bobby Ferro, whose multiple wins in Baja and his influence on other drivers and the development of off-road racing, will be an inspiration to all! Enjoy. Jim
