6-4, 294, Jr. Kitchens is sol- idly the starter at left tackle, having won the starting job from Pamphile after the first couple weeks of the season. Between last year and the start of this, he's now started almost a full season of games.
2. Kevin Pamphile 64 6-5, 300, Jr.
Wide Receiver 1. O.J. Ross 4
Left Guard 1. Peters Drey 67
6-6, 302, Sr. (5) Danny Hope said Drey had his best game of the season vs. Michigan, perhaps a sign that he's getting back into con- dition after a back injury cost him the second half of last year.
2. Jack De Boef 54 6-7, 290 So.
Wide Receiver
5-10, 188, Jr. 35 rec., 282 yards, 1 TD* Ross' 35 receptions this sea- son are impressive — he's on pace for 84 — but his per-catch yardage average of 8.1 is telling of the Boilers' inability to stretch the field. Macarthy has played sparingly recently.
2. Dolapo Macarthy 16 6-5, 220, R-Fr.
Quarterback 1. Caleb TerBush 19
1. Rick Schmeig 76
6-3, 305, Sr. (5) Schmeig's been efficient as Purdue's center, but a missed block — really, a missed assignment, blocking a cornerback, rather than a charg- ing LB — cost Purdue a first down on its first possession. It was all downhill from there for the Boilers. 2. Robert Kugler 57
6-3, 280, R-Fr.
1. Antavian Edison 13 5-11, 175, Sr. 28 rec., 313 yards, 5 TDs* 8 rush, 17 yards* Edison, who had four catches for 28 yards, had an uncharacteristic drop, when he tipped a Robert Marve pass into the air for an interception. Purdue needs to get the ball to Mostert more. Why is that not happening? 2. Raheem Mostert 8 5-11, 180, So.
Running Back
6-5, 225, Sr. (5) 67-of-105 for 636 yards, 8 TD / 5 int.* 26 rush, 46 yards, 1 TD* TerBush continues to be the starter, because he's the "more efficient" of Purdue's quarterbacks, a characteristic that includes decision-making before the snap. It's growing harder and harder, however, to ignore Marve's playmaking ability after the snap. 2. Robert Marve 9, 6-1, 212, Sr. (6) — OR — Rob Henry 15, 6-2, 200, Jr.
Tight End
Right Guard 1. Devin Smith 71
Right Tackle 1. Trevor Foy 78
6-7, 320, Jr. Purdue has to get better play out of its guards, and that includes Smith. He's a big body, so Purdue needs him to move the pile and create running lanes. He has limited effectiveness when he pulls out to block on the edges.
2. Cody Davis 59 6-5, 286, Jr.
1. Gabe Holmes 86 6-5, 247, Jr. 13 rec., 85 yards, 1 TD* Holmes' 13 receptions are an OK total, although not as many as expected for a player Purdue coaches bill as one of the best tight ends in the country. His 85 yards certainly don't seem like enough, particularly since he would seem to have the athleticism to stretch the field. 2. Crosby Wright 82 6-3, 248, Sr. (5)
1. Akeem Shavers 24 5-11, 203, Sr. 68 rush, 274 yards, 3 TDs* 4 rec., 58 yards* Shavers couldn't find many running lanes against the Wolverines, because none opened in front of him. He, and the rest of the running backs, are just not getting a lot of room. Purdue had only 56 yards rushing, on a 2.2 yard-per- carry average.
2. Akeem Hunt 11 5-9, 184, So.
6-7, 300, Jr. Quick rushers off the edge give Foy a bit of a problem, but he's holding up fine for the most part. He made a heads-up play when he recovered a Caleb TerBush fum- ble off a botched exchange.
2. Justin Kitchens 51 6-4, 294, Jr.
Wide Receiver 1. Gary Bush 6
6-0, 185, Jr. 19 rec., 154 yards, 4 TDs* When teams take away the screen passes, like Michigan did, it limits the effective- ness of Bush. He had only three receptions for 17 yards against the Wolverines. But he also took a reverse for 11 yards.
2. Charles Torwudzo 17 6-4, 223, So.
