"We look forward to hopefully spending more years playing there, as well." Free time Between Bruins practices and Pride ice time, Warrior Ice Arena staff still finds time to offer public skating and hockey. Marwell feels grateful that the community loves the facility so much. "[In] some rinks, it's kind of challenging to sell certain hours or book certain hours, but here we're very blessed," she says. "Because a lot of people in the Boston area want to skate on this ice and will skate at whatever time they can." The arena provides a break from Boston's stifling heat and humidity during the summers. As many as 150 skaters show up regularly for the Friday night Rock N' Skate, where the arena turns the lights down and a DJ plays music. During the regular season, people often spend their lunch breaks on the ice. In the meantime, the professionals keep practicing. The Bruins have a training camp coming up in September. The last camp brought legions of fans, and Marwell expects the same this time around. "There's nothing better than looking into the stands and seeing a packed house here cheering on our Bruins," says Marwell. Marwell has enjoyed the time she's spent managing the Warrior Arena so far, as well. "To speak to my experience here, it's been amazing. It's one of the coolest arenas that I've had the pleasure of working at in my 12 years in the industry," Marwell says. "Collaborating with the Bruins and New Balance and Warrior and new management has been really fun—a lot of people with really great ideas wanting to try things. "Opening new businesses can be a little risky sometimes, but you know, taking risks and trying new things can sometimes be worthwhile."
