Events W Retreat & Spa Bali Supports Bali Kids INDONESIA - The fi rst annual Bali Ball was held July 16, 2011 at W Retreat & Spa Bali – Seminyak in joint partnership with Jemme Jewellery. Ultimately, over USD 110,000 was raised from the gala dinner and live auction to support Bali Kids, a non-profi t organization that supports orphans in need of medical assistance. Tickets to the dinner included access to a champagne welcome reception, followed by a 5-course degustation dinner with wine pairings prepared by Executive Chef Ian Lovie and Chef de Cuisine, Jack Yoss. The menu included such delectable courses as Australian quail & mushroom ballontine, brown butter basted skate wing and roasted high country beef tenderloin. All wines and Moet & Chandon champagne were generously donated by local suppliers. Guests were entertained by 13 orphans that have been assisted by Bali Kids. They performed two numbers; the fi rst, a traditional Balinese dance set to contemporary music and the second, a hip-hop number. The guests also listened to the music stylings of DJ Kevin Kloer during dinner. The silent auction that took place after dinner included the following items donated by Jemme Jewellery and W Bali: twelve bottles of Moet & Chandon champagne, two nights in the 12 Extreme Wow Suite at W Retreat & Spa Bali – Seminyak, 18ct white gold earrings set with diamonds and green amethysts, three nights at W Koh Samui with business class airfare included, and a 10ct diamond line necklace which went for USD 12,000. Once all the bidding was over, guests were escorted to the VIP section of WooBar for the Bali Ball After Party. There, they were asked to release their "Wish" balloons simultaneously with a fi reworks program on the beach. Other fund-raising efforts included donating 10% of all beverage sales from WooBar that evening. "Thanks to everyone who came out to support this worthy cause. With these funds, Bali Kids will be able to continue their heartfelt efforts and help even more orphans in need." said Luke Stockley from Jemme Jewellery and Chairman of the Bali Ball Committee. "W is proud to support The Bali Ball and the local island charities it assists. We also thank all our partners & suppliers who stepped up and generously donated various items for a good cause. It took many hands to make this happen and now the orphans from Bali Kids will continue to get the assistance they need." said Craig Seaward, General Manager of W Retreat & Spa Bali - Seminyak and another Board Member for The Bali Ball.
