Soma 25 is exactly why the Scottish techno imprint is still smashing it. For 25 years Soma has been consistently flooding the techno scene with an array of quality techno tunes. Over its long history, they've dropped tunes from Pig&Dan, Adam Beyer and Joris Voorn. The imprint, run by the infamous duo Slam, has become one of the driving forces of the European techno scene. Hailing from the gritty streets of Glasgow, the labels strict and uncompromising approach has gained the imprint maximum respect. It's behind some of the biggest techno tracks of the last couple of decades and has been instrumental in launching the careers of many staple acts on the circuit, including Surgeon, Envoy and even Daft Punk who released their first beats with them back in 1994. Celebrating their massive 25 years in 2017, the label released a huge album earlier this year on plastic: Soma 25. August saw the album get a full digital release with an extra five tracks. From driving techno to spacey trips by household names Slam, Jeff Mills & Adam Beyer - the album covers all aspects of the wide ranging techno sound, offering a snapshot of why Soma are still pioneers of what they do. NEW RELEASES The Goliath of London's club land, Printworks has announced details of its second instalment. Sasha makes his debut on Watergate with two sick tunes. At the start of the year, London's newest club opened it's door for a season of premier events that brought the biggest and best electronic music to Canada Water for a series of unrivalled parties. Running between February and April, the 6,000 capacity venue hosted huge brands including Melt Festival, Ben Klock's Photon and UKF. After a largely silent summer the mind blowing printing halls will be open once again. So far the venue has shared four events, all in October. Opening each weekend from the 7th, they've lined up 4 mammoth events with takeovers from Ninja Tune, Black Coffee and Ram Records. So far no line ups are about, apart from their opening party which sees Maceo Plex headlining with support from Rødhåd, Daniel Avery and a whole load more! You can catch full details and register for priority tickets for all the parties on the Printworks website. The veteran producer has a another mad year, including sell out shows at the Barbican and starting his new residency in Ibiza, Resistance alongside John Digweed. Despite his packed out touring schedule, Sasha has managed to find time to produce some more fire beats, two of which have got themselves up Watergate. Leading the charge is the title track 'GameOvr', that's demonstrates Sasha's harder techno side. It's stripped back, raw and relentless - all heads to the ground for this one.
