The 'I' in India
New fact finding revealed in my latest travels to two Chinese cities – India will be the next emerging market in Asia Pacifi c. It is interesting to discover the general characteristics of travellers, what motivates them to spend, what attracts them to a city, a place of interest, the kinds of food and dietary preferences that they need; all these are essential to travel brands and services to cater to the changing needs of travellers and at the same time, provide that value add to their brands. But let's not forget that the Individual needs are
also essential. In India for example, visa applications, vegetarian meals and most importantly, the kinds of travel that the Indian traveller would be keen in, are factors important to hotels, agents and providers, to get down to the root of customised travels and make the travellers feel welcome and taken care of. SpotLight Hanoi from above
The wide, open spaces of Vietnam are coming to view in the heart of the capital during a month-long panoramic photo exhibit at the Sofitel Plaza Hanoi. Beginning June 27, the hotel will launch the exhibit by photographer Bui Hong Thang, aptly named Surprising Beauty. The 130 photographs in the exhibit were shot in some of Vietnam's most scenic locales. Viewers can expect to be trans- ported to fascinating corners of the country not only through 30 wide- angle prints but also through an
interactive setup on a large LED screen allowing viewers to scroll through 100 landscapes in brilliant high resolution colour and defi nition. Photographer Hong Thang said he received the inspiration for his collection while working on a previous shoot at the Sofitel Plaza Hanoi. Hong Thang expanded his original concept of "Hanoi from above" to include outstanding Viet- namese vistas from Phu Quoc to Ha Giang province, with landscapes from Truong Sa island as the highlight of the exhibit.
