Hong Kong: Great in Connectivity
I had the pleasure of living four years in Hong Kong from 1986 to 1990. Back then, by foot, one had to walk through the steps and slopes from Mid-Levels to the Central. Going back up the steep, hilly terrain was a feat undertaken only by the brave and fi t. In 1993, the Hong Kong authorities did build the world's largest escalator, linking it from the Central to Conduit Road…. right on the road where I used to be, hence making it easy for residents to go by foot and ease congestion on public transportation. It seemed unreal then, but achieve it they did. Just as they achieved the
tunnels linking Kowloon and Hong Kong, and the many stretches of overhead or mall linkage on both sides of the island. Hong Kong offers easy

from anywhere to everywhere; its mini- buses link housing estates to offi ces, and to shopping areas or the city, its mass transit railway is cheap and its taxis are easily available without having to book.
It is a great city destination for visitors – leisure or business – because everything functions so well. And not only – the low Hong Kong dollar – that is pegged to the American dollar – makes it inexpensive to visit.
