So, thanks to solution providers like Abacus and Amadeus, information is available at many points of sales, including airlines, travel agents and personal mobiles. Abacus VirtuallyThere enables travellers to access information like their latest itinerary, changes to their flight schedules, e-tickets through a single portable. It was the industry's first management service shaped by travellers for travellers – accessible on the desktop and mobile devices. What goes on behind these or global transaction processers distribution ser vices – also for companies like Sabre and Travelport – are many millions of dollars spent on research and development to enable those in the industry to operate their businesses in a more efficient way and to meet the growing demands of travellers, and those who serve the travellers. Also in this issue, there is a slight change in format . We wi ll carry separate pages on hotels and airlines as we get endless streams of press releases on their latest updates. We hope that Spotlight on Page 2 would be utilized for the staff in travel industry. It would also be used to share photographs, poems, or a letter from a reader. Or we could share quotes, or words of wisdom….. so that we can refl ect on the impact of what is being said and how apt they are. Airline staff were rewarded for service excellence by passengers who give away heart-shaped stickers. For every sticker collected British Airways donated S$0.25. "We wanted to show passengers how much we care about great service and have a little fun for a good cause. Both the British Airways staff and our passengers loved Passion for Service Day.
