PEOPLE www.travelweeklyweb.com Banyan Tree's changes in management team Reinhold Johann Jamal Hussain Reinhold Johann is now Area general manager – Hotel Operations, in Lang Co, Vietnam. Reinhold will oversee the pre-opening of the group's hotels in Laguna Lang Co. an integrated resort. Reinhold joined Banyan Tree in 2007 as general manager of Banyan Tree Seychelles, and was promoted to area general manager of Hangzhou, China, before his most recent appointment as general manager of Banyan Tree Ungasan in June 2010. Jamal Hussain is the new general manager of Banyan Tree Ungasan, Bali, responsible for hotel operations and management and maintaining close relations with the property's owning company. Jamal was previously Banyan Tree's country manager for Indonesia, overseeing the group's Indonesia portfolio. Previous posts within Banyan Tree include area general manager for Laguna Anders Dimblad Frank Wesselhoefft Bintan and Area General Manager, Maldives. Anders Dimblad steps into a new role as general manager of Banyan Tree Al Wadi in Ras al-Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, overseeing operations for both the resort and beach club. Anders began his career at Banyan Tree in 2003, and held management stints at Banyan Tree Seychelles, Angsana Ihuru, Angsana Hotel & Suites (Dubai) and Banyan Tree Bangkok. Before his current appointment, he was the general manager of Banyan Tree Seychelles. Frank Wesselhoefft joins Banyan Tree as general manager of Banyan Tree Seychelles, bringing with him over 18 years of hospitality experience in London, the Maldives, Vietnam and Thailand. Frank was previously resort manager for Six Senses Hideaway Yao Noi, Thailand. SilverNeedle Hospitality appoints MD and CEO Iqbal Jumabhoy has been appointed the new MD and CEO of SilverNeedle Hospitality, who is expected to lead the group into expanding its present network of 4000 keys to 10,000 keys by 2016. In his new role, Jumabhoy will be driving growth of SilverNeedle Hospitality's investment, development and management of its branded hospitality properties in the Asia- Pacifi c region. Jumabhoy is an experienced chief executive with in depth expertise in a number of industries including banking, real estate and corporate management. He has served on the boards of listed companies in the United Kingdom, India, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. Most recently, he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Rendezvous Hospitality Group. Travelport's new senior director of corporate development Nicolas Pierret has been appointed to be S e nior Dire c tor of Corporate Development for Travelport's Asia- P a c i f ic re g i o n. As pa r t o f th e A s ia - Pac i f i c management team, Pierret will be responsible for leading strategic projects within the region. Pierret has had senior leadership roles with Carlson Wagonlit Travel in Singapore and Delhi where he was involved in strategic planning, global accounts and overseeing CWT's India subsidiary. Pierret will be based in Sydney initially before relocating to Travelport's offi ce in Singapore later in the year. Lyn Lewis-Smith announced as CEO Lyn Lewis-Smith has been officially appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Australia's leading convention bureau, Business Events Sydney's (BESydney). Lyn was the Chief Operating Officer, and most recently as Acting Chief Executive Offi cer. Chairman Col Hughes said: "Lyn has extensive experience both in the business events and tourism industry. She is absolutely the right leader for the BESydney team and her appointment is both well- deserved and a key driver for BESydney's ongoing success." Lyn adds, "It's an extremely exciting time in Sydney and with many redevelopments and revitalisation projects underway, the city is undoubtedly changing. I am extremely confident in my team's ability to manage the opportunities presented by developments and to maximise the benefits for Sydney's business event offering.
