Going green
When I was younger my favourite colour was red but now I've changed to green, perhaps it's because going green is the way to go to preserve the future for our later generations. The feature article of the week is not ex- actly about going green but it's in the same vein. Being socially responsible for the environments that we operate in. If people are interested in cultural tours, they should also contribute pos- itively to the indigenous populations they thrust themselves on. It's another person's world that they are visiting. You could say that tourism is one of the easiest ways for an emerging
country to generate economic growth but at the same time it could have negative repercussions if not handled properly. This is where the stake hold- ers and tourism authorities need to step in to ensure that the tourism product is not eroded. Even tourists have a part to play. Just take a devel- oped country like Singapore, a tourist wrote in to comment that Singapore is not as clean as it used to be. If a country like Singapore can't manage its cleanliness which it was renowned for, what about less developed ones? Will they to develop the social problems that comes with opening up?
