TRACK OF THE MONTH: LOADSTAR - GIVE YOURSELF Drum & bass has tragically lost another legendary producer. After building up the hype over the summer, Loadstar are set to drop their second album. The Ram Records duo are top of their game and easily one of Europe's biggest drum & bass acts. Since their first outing as Loadstar in 2010, the pair have kept raising the game with their ground breaking DJ sets & performances not to mention consistently hammering out killer tracks. They're set to raise the bar yet again once they drop their long awaited second album, I Need The Night at the end of the month. The release has already gathered big support from Friction, Annie Nightgale & more after a steady stream of singles over the last few months have been causing chaos on the circuit. One track from the full length has been heavy rotation at Guestlist HQ, 'Give Yourself'. A quirky, trappy intro with some mad vocals quickly descends to jungle clasher complete with a phone ring and Loadstar's trademark groaning bass tones. Active in the music biz for 13 years, Rob Dickson leaves a truly remarkable legacy behind him. Whether you knew him from his hard hitting Unknown Error guise, or the uplifting spirit of his Apex alias or from his recent works outside of drum & bass as Robert Oaks & Midnight Lamp; you'll understand the pure talent this man had as a music producer. It was music that's more than just drops, it's music that speaks to you on higher levels. He broke through with the dark sounds of Unknown Error before later producing more emotive tracks as Apex. Even very recently had he dropped new music as Robert Oaks & Midnight Lamp, where he dived out of drum & bass into downtempo and 4x4 tracks. All his works, over the last 13 years has culminated into a solid reputation and impressive discography spanning labels including Hospital, Renegade Hardware, mau5trap and Horizons. His ability to capture any mood, whether complete rage or heart warming bliss, Rob could lay it down in a record in ways that many couldn't. We've lost another truly talented producer, though his music will live forever. NEWS: MASTERMIND BEHIND APEX & UNKNOWN ERROR HAS PASSED AWAY ARTIST OF THE MONTH: THE RETURN OF G DUB Made up of Original Sin & Sub Zero, they were a driving force in drum & bass back in the mid to late noughties. Huge tracks like 'Tink Ur Bad', 'Warp Speed' and 'Les Miserables' whipped up chaos in the clubs and saw support from a huge range of DJs. The duo behind one of the most powerful forces in the jump up game decided to focus on their separate careers. In that time they've both exploded. Original Sin's had an album and expanded his sound to the big room style meanwhile Sub Zero's consistently churned out high energy jump up riddims. For the first time since 2014, G Dub reappeared on the new releases with two remixes, Dope Ammo and Sigma. Though it was in mid-September when G Dub returned with their first original material after their separation. They return with a killer two tracker, the A Side aptly named 'Back In Business' is a fiery cut that pretty much does what it says on the tin! On the flip side, G Dub have brought their classic 'Tink Ur Bad' back to life with a huge 2017 remix. Welcome back, G Dub!! 40 ISSUE 103 / 2017 DRUM & BASS PLAYLIST The drum and bass on our playlist this month Tour Macky Gee We Are The People Break Born To Spin (teat.
