BAJA COMES TO SOCAL SCORE SHOWCASES THE BFGoodrich Tires SCORE BAJA 1000 AT THE 2017 LUCAS OIL OFF-ROAD EXPO By Dan Sanchez Photos by Get Some Photo and Dan Sanchez Every year, Southern California off-road enthusiasts look forward to celebrating everything the industry has to offer at the annual Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo presented by Nitto Tire. Along with hundreds of off-road manufacturers displaying the latest products for Jeeps, trucks and UTVs, the show is also where SCORE fans could get their annual update of the annual SCORE Baja 1000 race at the SCORE exhibit. This was one of the first places where SoCal off-road fans could begin the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000. The Grand Marshal for the race, former SCORE owner Sal Fish, was at the SCORE exhibit signing autographs and meeting with fans to discuss this year’s iconic race. The SCORE exhibit had a multitude of vehicles from vintage Chenoweth race buggies, Class 8 race winning trucks, Class 5 VW bugs, and big-horsepower SCORE Trophy Trucks. Fans could see these vehicles up close and take photos with the racers who brought them, including Rob MacCachren, Larry Rosesler, Dennis Hollenbeck, Mark Stahl, Jeff Proctor, Lalo Laguna, Kristen and Wayne Matlock, Marc Burnett, Shelby & Cody Reid, Billy Wilson, and many others. Fans waiting in long lines to meet SCORE racers, but they were also there to hear the details on the course for the 50th Anniversary of the BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000. SCORE CEO/president Roger Norman, announced the details of the course and handed out copies to anyone in attendance. This year’s race is a peninsula run, which starts in Ensenada and runs all the way down to LaPaz. The news about the second Dust 2 Glory movie was one that many attendees of the Off-Road Expo waited to hear. Director Dana Brown announced that the movie is scheduled to be released nationally December 6th, and showed a sneak-preview on the large SCORE Vision screen. After the preview, fans were able to get an autographed Dust 2 Glory poster. While the excitement of the 50th Anniversary of the SCORE Baja 1000 continues to build, SCORE is preparing to take its “Baja Experience” to the 2017 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The automotive aftermarket industry show will also be the place where industry attendees can get a feel for the Baja 1000 race, and enjoy qualifying at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on November 1st. The 50th Anniversary of the BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000 will take place November 12 – 18th. For more information, visit www.score-international.com. SJ
