In 2017, SCORE Journal highlighted only a fragment of the people and stories that helped make the SCORE Baja 1000 race, legendary. In this special issue of SCORE Journal, we celebrate the BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000 and to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the race, we again acknowledge those individuals by re-publishing their stories in one compilation, and included two additional stories. The first is Precision Performance Preparation Inc. lead by Cal Wells. The team’s involvement with Toyota changed off-road racing and the face of the SCORE Baja 1000. The second addition is Rod Hall’s personal story on his first Baja 1000 race with Larry Minor in 1967. Hall is the only man to have competed in every Baja 1000 race (49) and is again planning on competing in his 50th.
Although there are still many stories and people to tell them, we salute these pioneers of the sport, who have in some way, contributed to making the SCORE Baja 1000 race the grandest off-road race in history.
