Tijuana Honors SCORE’s roger norman With Tourism Merit Award The Tijuana Tourism and Convention Committee honored SCORE International and Roger Norman, President/CEO of SCORE, with the Tourism Merit Award. The award honors individuals and organizations that have helped develop tourism in the city of Tijuana and the state of Baja California, Mexico. The event was held at the city’s Tienente Guerrero part in the downtown district of Tijuana. SCORE and Norman were given the International Merit Award for 40 years of promoting its events in Tijuana, Ensenada, Rosarito Beach and San Felipe. The award was presented to Norman by Oscar Excobedo, the State Secretary of Tourism, State Legislature Rocio Lopez, and Francisco “Pancho” Villegas, the president of the Tijuana Tourism and Convention Committee. Dust 2 Glory Premieres December 6th The long awaited Dust 2 Glory, directed by Dana Brown, will premiere in cinemas December 6th. The movie is the culmination of an 18-month project that started at the 2016 SCORE Baja 1000 and follows various racers in different classes, as they prepare for the 50th Anniversary BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000. The documentary includes exclusive interviews, dramatic cinematography and the beautiful Baja landscape that racers fall in love with, but also find challenging to conquer. City of Ensenada Celebrates 50 Years Of Baja Racing The City of Ensenada, the Baja California State Government, off-road fans and the tourism industry celebrated 50 YEARS OF BAJA RACING, on Monday, September 25th. The Mayor of Ensenada, Marco Novelo, with Off-Road racers, promoters and fans, officially declared Ensenada as the Off-Road World Capital, recognizing the positive impact of Baja racing in our region, and becoming a successful industry around the globe. To celebrate the Proturismo de Ensenada, Transpeninsular Brewery collaborated to produce a series of commemorative craft beers named after iconic Baja racing spots: Ojos Negros Stout, Zoo Road IPA, El Arco Amber Ale, La Purisima Blonde, Punta Conejo Pale Ale & Land’s End Session IPA. In addition, the Santo Tomas Winery, the oldest winery in Mexico, released a commemorative edition of red and white wines. As part of a continuing tribute to the sport of off-road racing, the city of Ensenada also unveiled the Off-Road Walk of Fame, to honor the Mexican 1000 (1967-1973) and SCORE Baja 1000 (1975-2016) overall vehicle and motorbike winners. The Off-Road Walk of Fame consists of 49 marble plaques to be located on the boardwalk in front of Riviera Cultural Center. The city of Ensenada’s celebration will continue on Tuesday November 14, when the Baja Racing 50th Anniversary Ceremony will take place in the fabulous Casino & Cathedral rooms inside the Riviera Cultural Center. The ceremony will include hors d’oeuvres, craft beer, wine, soft drinks, a three course dinner, souvenirs, and the official ceremony to honor Baja racing pioneers, top Baja 1000 overall winners and top Baja 1000 Mexican winners. Attendees will include Federal, State and City officials, race legends, hall of famers, promoters, racers, sponsors and fans, with the solid purpose to celebrate this epic moment & the success of Baja racing.
