GUESTLIST 2017 / ISSUE 104 11 Usually, when prisoners go on hunger strike, suffering severe weight loss, they are force-fed through a thin tube in their nose in a restraint chair. But under the Trump administration that is no longer happening. Although a spokesman for the Pentagon has maintained that feeding the detainees remains practice. In recent calls with their clients, Reprieve report that the two inmates (along with others) are no longer being monitored. Any "harm" to them is being dismissed as "choice". Qasim who has been in prison for 15 years without any kind of trial, often wonders when his organs are going to give in. His even passed out on one occasion without any medical attention. Rabbani has dropped to 6.5 stone and is currently suffering from internal bleeding. "Make no mistake, these men will die at the hands of Donald Trump if nothing is done." Watson explains. If you would like to join the other 1061 people in #FastForJustice you can sign the Reprieve petition to voice your concerns. JOIN THE DEPUTY LABOUR LEADER IN A HUNGER STRIKE AGAINST GUANTANAMO BAY Tom Watson has gone on a hunger strike in solidarity with Guantanamo Bay prisoners, Khalid Qasim & Ahmed Rabbani, who have been on strike since the 20th of September. GUIDE TO EATING OUT AS A VEGAN By consistently re-focusing on all the amazing things you have in your life, no matter how big or small (it could be a really good breakfast), it trains your brain to focus on the positive. When you feel happy, the central nervous system is affected. You're more peaceful, less reactive and less resistant and gratitude is one of the most effective ways of stimulating happiness. Consistently look for the positive in every situation and positive outcomes will follow. You can get more out of your days, weeks and years. Give it a go yourself. Think of five things you're grateful for every day and why. Write them down if you want to. Or try telling someone close to you something you appreciate about them. THE POWER OF GRATITUDE Many studies over the past ten years have found that people who consciously count their blessings tend to be happier and less depressed. LOVE YOURSELF To get far in life and do something massive, you have to love yourself. By loving yourself, you give yourself value and the more you value yourself, the more value you have. You can go and sell yourself into anything or sell your products for more. Then, just do things right. Do things by the book, work hard, go harder than anyone else. The more you do things right, the more you will love yourself. The stronger you are, the more you will love yourself. It's a virtuous cycle. CAT RACE Here's how you can find the most vegan friendly restaurants in your area.
