The rap group are back with their newest album The Saga Continues. Based in both London and Vancouver, left-field R&B/ electronica trio Suffer The Children share their latest single 'Killing Hands' . On the 25th of November one of the undisputed greats of east coast hip hop, Jeru The Damaja will bring his legendary live set to the Archspace in London. At the production helm is Grammy Award-winning producer Chin Injeti who in partnership with DJ Khalil has worked with a host of influential artists such as Eminem, Kanye West & Jay-Z. Alongside them is Rian Peters who has shared stages with the likes of Black Twang and Lauryn Hill. The wildcard of the group is multi-talented artist Shallom Johnson. Suffer The Children is a project developed out of a mutual need to create intelligent songwriting, honest collaboration, and the freedom to experiment. It is obvious listening to 'Killing Hands' that the group as stayed true to these beliefs. Hypnotic vocals against a backdrop of ambient melodies, 'Killing Hands' evokes an atmosphere of introspection, drawing the listener into its moody emotive soundscape. As one of the leading collaborators with the game changing crew Gang Starr, since its conception in 1993, Jeru has laid down some killer tracks. From 'Me Or The Papes', Come Clean' and 'You Can't Stop The Prophet'. His steady releases of bangers has seen the rapper collaborate with a range of artists. Including Groove Armada, Guru, Premier, Beatnuts & Pete Rock and Polish rapper OSTR. However, Jeru isn't stopping there. He continues to maintain a touring schedule that most young rappers can only dream of, continuing to bring his sound to the masses, Jeru is sure to deliver another fire performance this month! It has been noted that this LP should be regarded as a record more similar to Legendary Weapons or Chamber Music than Enter the 36 Chambers or Wu Tang Forever. There are many beats that take you straight back into the old school Wu atmosphere such as the Ghost Dog-esque keys and rousing soul strings on 'If Time Is Money', also the tense energy as provided by the beat on 'Fast and Furious', something that Raekwon capitalises on effortlessly. With only sparse appearances from some of the main members of the clan, the full absence of U God and of course the irreplaceable (RIP) Ol' Dirty Bastard, the addition of the rawkus style of the funk doctor, Redman and the feature from celebrated veteran (RIP) Sean Price are most welcome inclusions. Clearly this album is not Enter The 36 Chambers or Forever. And while this Wu album cannot be regarded as a record that hits the mindblowing levels of those two seminal hip hop albums, it is still a quality record.
