2017 / ISSUE 104 7 GUESTLIST GOOD EGGS Mr. Manafort was President Trump's former campaign chairman. The FBI has charged both men with "conspiracy against the US and money laundering" says Andrew Beatty, the White House correspondent for AFP. It has been revealed that while Mr. Manfort and Mr. Gates lobbied the US government representing Ukraine, they received over $75m to their offshore accounts from their clients, without declaring it, as well as denying it. Everyone knows that you don't mess with the IRS... It was also revealed that members of the President's campaign team were in contact with the Russian government, through a female Russian national. After the FBI told them to surrender themselves, Mr. Manafort did so. To add to the sweet irony, in 2016, American politician Newt Gingrich, praised Trump's campaign, saying that 'Nobody should underestimate how much Paul Manafort did to really help get this [Trump] campaign to where it is right now'. Amazing. Two business partners, Paul Manafort and Richard Gates, have just gotten into a lot of trouble with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. TRUMP'S FORMER CAMPAIGN MANAGER ARRESTED BY FBI FOR CONSPIRACY AGAINST THE US SMELLS DODGY With a strong focus on raising awareness around homelessness, Khan put together a video with a King's professor, whom they dressed as a homeless person to see if students or colleagues would recognise her, they didn't. In London alone there has been a 16% increase in homelessness from the previous year. That's a vast amount of people who are likely to experience loneliness and social exclusion, often being overlooked or even worse attacked on the streets. However Khan is not deterred, as Head of the Homeless Project under ARK he adds, "ever since I joined ARK, I've found myself in a position where I can actually help those around me. As young Muslims in the UK, it is especially important for us to highlight how Islam teaches us so many messages of peace and love, particularly towards those in need." The ARK project aims to alleviate just some of the troubles the homeless face, either by offering a rucksack of necessities, a hot meal or even a warm space and chat for those going through these issues. As well as aiming to tackle homelessness ARK are constantly doing good deeds from visiting the elderly, giving out food or cheering up sick children in hospital. The ARK project (aka Acts of Random Kindness) created by the King's College Islamic Society, inspired 4th year medicine student Naveed Khan to stress the plight of homeless people.
