22 ■ THE WOLFPACKER TRACKING THE PACK wolfpacker spotlight JULIA BROWN Senior • Volleyball In a season of many accomplishments for second-year head coach Linda Hamp- ton-Keith's program, Brown was at the center of it. The senior outside hitter from Davidson, N.C., finished second in the ACC in kills with 474 and set a new rally scoring era school record for most career kills with 1,368. She was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) East Region Player of the Year, making her the first player in program history to receive that honor. She was also named honorable mention All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, along with teammate and junior setter Kyrie Pickrell. The two joined Megan Cyr in 2012 as the program's honorable mention All-Americans. Brown was tabbed a first-team All-ACC performer for the second straight season, making her the first Wolfpacker to accomplish that since Volire Tisdale in 1987-88. The NC State volleyball team went 21-12 this year and won a school-record 15 ACC matches with just five losses, competing for the league title for much of the year. The Pack sported a perfect record (10-0) at home in conference matches and won an NCAA Tournament match, both school firsts. NCSU reached the round of 32 before losing to second-ranked Texas in Austin. — Matt Carter/Photo by Larry Blankenship
