Hyland suggests those who are wondering how the economy is doing in the new year keep an eye on consumer sentiment, the housing market and the overall automo- tive market. "We tend to focus on those things that impact the consumer and we see those as generally strong," Hyland says. "There are a lot of things that are lining up for 2018. Lax agrees. "The 2017 market was one of the best years we've had in a long, long time," he concludes. "I don't think people are expecting it to be exactly like 2017, but they are expecting 2018 to be a good year." Bill Thompson with Ally Financial says there is plenty of capital available for RV dealers heading into the new year.
