Specifically, that something new is the Hymer Aktiv 2.0 Loft Edition. The lack of slide-outs and the limited natural confines of a typical Class B means that its use is restricted to a couple's coach. That's not the case with the Loft Edition, however, which can sleep up to six people. That's made possible thanks to the pop-up section, which can comfortably sleep four, according to Mike Snell, EHGNA's vice president of sales and service. "Dealers tell us they love the loft and the extra space it provides," he says. What's more, a comfortable built-in mattress in the loft means people sleeping in the pop-up section aren't "roughing it," he adds. Meanwhile, additional sleeping space is provided in the form of a rear a king-size bed with a thicker-than-standard mattress. That rear bed folds up in the day to provide extra space in the coach and can be unfurled in the evening for sleeping. Also contributing to the "bigger" feel of this 20-foot, 9-inch Class B coach is the fact that it is built on the Ram Promaster 3500 extended chassis, which is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 gas engine. Interior comfort is made possible by an 11,000-BTU air con- ditioner and a 14,000-BTU Truma Combi air and water heater. The coach's expanded galley features a two-burner stove, a 3.1-cubic-foot refrigerator and a 0.7-cubic-foot microwave. It offers generous interior storage for a Class B model. The compact bathroom features a tambour door and an ergo- nomic swiveling cassette toilet. The Class B seats four: two in the driver and front passenger seats, which swivel, and two in the dinette in the galley. A power sofa bed in soft composite leather is available as an option. The gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) on the coach is 9,350 pounds. The towing capacity is 3,500 pounds. Notably, the coach comes with a six-year transferable warranty and two years of free Roadside RV Assistance. An EcoTrek 400 lithium power module and solar charging system with 250-watt controller are offered as options. The Hymer Aktiv 2.0 Loft Edition is being offered in one floorplan. It's expected to become available in March at a base retail price of about $129,000, well equipped. What impressed RV PRO: Previously, the many benefits of a Class B motorhome were always offset by the fact that such models always offered limited sleeping capacity. That's changed now with the Loft Edition, opening up new opportunities for family camping. Having a lithium power module and solar charging system as options is a nice added plus. The Loft Edition's ability to sleep six, thanks to the pop-up top and fold- up king-size bed, opens up new opportunities for family camping in what historically has been a couple's coach. The Class B motorhome comes nicely equipped with standard features like a Truma Combi air and water heater.
