Unless you have been listening to UK hip hop since the late nineties, you probably won't be familiar with Welsh hip hop's most infamous crew Goldie Lookin Chain. Their output has been almost constant ever since and having gained notoriety through the course of over ten LPs and mix- tapes, most of them self-released, GLC hit it big in the early 2000s with their brand of jovial and distinctively Welsh rap. Legends in their own right, soap bar specialists Goldie Lookin Chain can never be accused of taking themselves too seriously. Far from it, some of their biggest hits include 'Your Mother's Got a Penis', 'Half Man, Half Machine' and 'Guns Don't Kill People, Rappers Do', a track that reached number 3 in the UK charts back in 2004. A feat rarely repeated by any British hip hop act. Seldom has the scene had such a popular yet self depreciating hip hop act. Approachable as always, they recently dropped a new LP named Fear Of A Welsh Planet. So if you fancy a night full of fun raps, all terminally coloured in a proud and fiercely Welsh manner, make sure you give the album a listen. D'Angelo is set to play a one- off UK gig at London's Eventim Apollo on March the 6th, 2018. GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS: YGG D'Angelo will also be joined on stage by his talented band members, guitarists Jesse Johnson & Isaiah Sharkey, bassist Pino Palladino and drummer Karriem Riggins. Fans of the R&B legend are in for the night of their lives as the four-time Grammy Award-winning artist plays his first show in nearly three years, the last time he played in London was July 2015. After a 14-year hiatus, D'Angelo made his return to the music industry with his Grammy-winning album, Black Messiah. Collaborating with some of the music industry's greats from Snoop Dogg, Raphael Saadiq, Method Man and Redman; D'Angelo has decades of hits behind him and unrivalled success. British singer Omar, known for hits like 'Golden Brown', and 'Feeling You' will be supporting the legend on the night. Comprised of nine tracks, World Domination forms their most expansive work to date and spotlights how far they've come as a crew since breaking through in 2015. Members PK, Lyrical Strally and Saint P are defined by their boundless, crackerjack energy and strong on-mic personalities. On World Domination, they stretch this formula across nine pulsating tracks that zero in on their own, idiosyncratic grime sound. There are four YGG tracks, all of which see the trio ride experimental beats, trading verses across meandering, lo- slung garage beats ('Lion'), choppy drum tracks ('Caking') and woozy, trap hybrids ('Genjutsu'). There's also space for each member to contribute solo tracks of their own, with PK flowing at warp speed on throwback grime riddim 'Grinding', Strally taking aim at snitches on 'Ratings' and Saint P throwing out reload bars on monstrous 8-bar club jam 'Any Violations'.
