Asia expands By Melissa Tizi By now, the travel trade shows would have taken a wrap but incentives and meetings focused events may still happen, as the year draws to a close. On my recent trip to Thailand, a certain yachting organisation was holding its branding campaign, using strategies and marketing initiatives, in partnership with a beverage brand and a hotel venue. And from the looks of it, the “tripartite” effort has started off on good footing. A collaborative effort that excites all parties is something positive and fun to execute. The venue provider has also done a great job at tapping into the brand standing to its core identity. Similarly, for a big event to thrive five years in a row, teamwork and support from relevant authority such as the tourism board, partner airlines, and trade players. This issue, we delve into the home-grown trade event, ITB Asia 2012. Largest to-date, the trade show is indicative of how Asia is expanding, undeterred, above and beyond.
