Expressing emotions such as anger, envy, excitement, love and motivation is just one of the many ways Eminem has become a hip hop legend over the years. Eminem has never been a typical artist and his latest album, Revival proves just that. Dubbed as the 'woke LP', Eminem touches on subjects like Trump, racism, family, and acknowl- edging his own mistakes in the song 'Castle'. Despite the album receiving mixed reviews, there is no doubt, Eminem manages to freestyle to perfection by easily pro- nouncing complex words, using techniques such as metaphors and storytelling on fire beats. Confidence, honesty, humour, creativity, determination and daring lyricism. It is clear that the Oscar winner and one of the best-selling hip hop artists of all time has little to prove, Eminem will and always will be a legend. PLAYLIST Invasion of Privacy Cardi B In The Morning / Motion Jay Prince Freudian Daniel Caesar Durt Ray Blk The hip hop & rnb in our playlist this month It's been almost 5 years since Janelle Monáe gifted us her last full length LP, The Electric Lady! Let that sink in. Following speculation from eagle eyed fans that West and Drake were both staying in Wyoming, it has emerged that they may be collaborating together. GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS: JANELLE MONÁE Fans recognised the mountainous snowy settings from Drake's photographer, Theo Skudra's Instagram story with Kim Kardashian's own photos she was also sharing online. This is not the first time these two great mavericks of hip hop have come together as they teamed up in 2017 for 'Glow' which featured on the More Life playlist. Fans have reason to be excited as Drake joins the long list of stars rumoured to be working with Kanye West , including Travis Scott, Nas and Kid Cudi. Here's to hoping that the mountains in Wyoming help this album peak the hip hop charts. Since then, the artist has been making her rounds through Hollywood, starring in hugely successful movies like Hidden Figures and Moonlight. As exciting as it has been to see Monáe on the big screen but it was the release of new music which left us in anticipation the most. Finally, this month we see a double (yes, double) release from Monáe. 'Make Me Feel', undeniably inspired by her late friend and King of Soul, Prince, pulls from the past while still feeling fresh. With funky guitars and a falsetto sang chorus, 'Make Me Feel' is essentially a bisexual anthem. 'Django Jane"' the second release, sees Monáe infuse staccato raps over a trap beat with funky bass and crescendoed strings. She shows us her "black girl magic" while rapping "let the vagina have a monologue". It's her unapologetic nature, grace and style that leaves us salivating for more.
