Featured Rink Bentley Arena | | Waltham, Mass. A Community Space The Bentley Arena brings people together. Many had a seat at the table in the building process, from the athletics department to sustainability department. Alumni who return to campus and watch a game feel connected to the university again. Students and faculty who never really followed hockey watch the Falcons play for the first time. People are amazed at what the rink does from a sustainability perspective. King wants to make sure the building keeps walking the talk on an institutional level. They'll keep pushing recycling and composting collection programs for fans and concessions staff, for one. "As a university in general we recognize that climate change poses a pretty major threat to humankind. And it also poses a pretty major threat to business and the economy," King says. "Businesses now are thinking about the impact of climate change. So, if we're not teaching our students about that, we're not preparing them." Offermann had been an avid Boston Celtics fan since childhood. She never expected she'd be in the media control room at her first game in college, wearing a headset and talking to all the people making the game happen. She felt a similar sense of victory opening night at Bentley Arena. As important as the branding, graphics and working with her mentor and fellow students was, Offermann has her eyes on leaving a legacy. "My greatest priority was creating something if I come back in 40 years, that I see a completely student-run control room at a hockey game, and know that my friends and I got to be a part of that, you know, years ago," Offermann says. "And just the process where it started from absolutely nothing. It is really what I'm most excited for." J LOCKER ROOMS SKATING/HOCKEY PROGRAMS: Falcons games and practices Bentley Falcons Hockey
