P-Ben is an exciting French artist with a back catalogue that spans quality imprints like Josh Wink's Ovum, Pig&Dan's ELEVATE, and Florian Meindl's FLASH. With his newest EP he makes his debut on the Dijon based label A-TRACTION that has previously seen an eclectic array of artists ranging from Dima aka Vitalic, and DJ Hell example. File Station is a solid EP with a blend of driving, old-school sounds that clearly take an influence from a rich heritage of Detroit. With the powerful and relentless, peak-time beats on 'End Of Chapter One', there's also a deeper and subtle affair in the form of 'Exam' that uses deep stabbing chords with a hypnotic flow and softer sonic textures. The other tracks seem to fill in the gaps as the overall sound caters for many shades and moods of well-crafted ideas in a carefully chosen realm. The release also sees the label boss himself Marc Ayats team up with Owlk for only their second collaboration to date, putting the icing on the cake with a twist of acid for this strong, club orientated release.
