GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS: PROTOJE & CHRONIXX Following the success of last year's Grammy-winning Stony Hill, Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley will be performing one night at Brixton's O2 Academy as part of the European leg of the reggae artist's summer tour. Protoje and Chronixx come together for hard hitting reggae track 'No Guarantee'. Ahead of his upcoming album A Matter of Time coming out on June 29th, Protoje releases his latest single, 'No Guarantee', featuring reggae star Chronixx. Spitting a weighty message over a heavy bass and addictive beat, Chronixx sings, " Will they love you? No guarantee, people all need salvation, will they save you? No guarantee." Reminding us of the inevitable disappointments we will face in life, over a rapid-fire hook, Protoje still manages to keep it light with his hypnotic chantlike vocals and a crunchy bassline. Though Stony Hill was Marley's first solo effort since his acclaimed 2005 album Welcome to Jamrock, the singer kept busy in the interim with a steady stream of pop and hip-hop collaborations. Including his 2010 Nas team-up album Distant Relatives. For his latest work, however, offers a purer exploration of modern reggae while covering subjects ranging from medical marijuana to police brutality. Expect a spirited set when Marley comes to London, which may also include one or two songs from his father Bob Marley, amidst his own material. ARTIST OF THE MONTH: NATTY British-born reggae star Natty has returned with the soulful new visuals for 'Motherland', taken from his critically acclaimed second album, Release The Fear, a record which featured collabs with Alborosie, Busy Signal and George The Poet. Natty takes his influence from the various forms of ancestral music that exist across the globe, and in 'Motherland' we see him celebrating the land of his mother, and the cradle of civilization – Africa. The track also serves as a lament to what he sees as the alienation of modern life, with the MC saying: "Generation X lost in shorthand text, KMT going Africa to build myself a Babylon-proof vest." The official music video, shot in stunning Sierra Leone sees Natty exploring the terrain on a journey to find inner strength. A place of significance to Natty, he has visited and performed there numerous times, having recently sent a container of aid relief for those affected by the floods in Freetown.
