the quarterly magazine of ILTA 29 Peer to Peer SmART mOvES RElEASE yOUR InnER IlTAn AT FIVE … i wanted to be a sailor. i loved the ocean, loved water of all kinds. We had a little cat boat that was fun for sailing around narragansett bay, and i adored being out on it. NOW … My dream job would be a teacher. i love teaching people how to do stuff, and it feels really good to help people (the secret of ilta!). and my really, really, really dream job would be a comedian. i love to laugh and to make others laugh. henry chace chief information officer burns & levinson, llP AT FIVE … i wanted to be an astronaut. the thought of going up in space and traveling to distant places made me all giddy. i wanted to "go where no man had gone before". NOW … today, i'd like to be a professional tennis player (and maybe a "part-time" astronaut). some days, i'd really like to "serve" some of the users up into space. . . Geoff Rhodes Director of information technology Robinson, bradshaw & hinson, P.a. AT FIVE … I wanted to be a nurse, so as soon as I was old enough, I became a candy striper at the local hospital. But then I discovered how much it upset me to see injured people. NOW … My dream job would be to be a geologist or archeologist. The farther away from technology the better – especially e-mail and my BlackBerry! cheryl fowler technical training Manager Dickstein shapiro llP AT FIVE … I wanted to spend my "growed up" years explaining to lawyers why they can't keep pushing the same buttons on their computers and expect different results each time. Since I was one of the first in my class to learn not to stick crayons in my nose, I felt this goal was achievable. NOW … I just want a pony! brent skumlien litigation technology coordinator Gallagher & Kennedy, P.a. AT FIVE … I had a number of aspirations throughout my childhood, including gymnast, dancer, OB (until I found out where babies came from), physical therapist and finally child and developmental psychologist. NOW … In real life I began as a receptionist and worked my way from legal secretary to assistant in HR. When I found that I preferred figuring out why and how my computer worked rather than how and why people did what they did, I knew at last what I wanted to do, made it happen, and can now happily say I have not looked back. As for what my dream job would be right now? Nature photographer. I've already begun dabbling in this as a hobby. Kristy costello it Manager chuhak & tecson, P.c. THEN … When I was in my pre-teens, I wanted to be a school librarian, and later, to share what I knew with my peers – in other words, to be a teacher. I loved books then, and I love them now. There is no memory for me of not knowing how to read. NOW … Lucky me, I have fulfilled both dreams. For a few years in Canada I was an elementary school teacher and school librarian. Then I got married, moved toTexas, and started working in law firms. I was a receptionist, then secretary, word processor, paralegal, IT manager, and now, at last, I'm doing one of my dream jobs: learning new things, and sharing that knowledge on the Helpdesk, plus doing training at my law firm. It is a very rewarding and satisfying way to spend my days. Maritta terrell trainer & help Desk specialist lloyd Gosselink Rochelle & townsend, P.c.
