SPRING2019 15 in leagues and tournaments and hold bigger events. "That's when we decided that this could be a full-scale business if we just go for it." The Borzas installed a concession stand to provide food during events, and batting cages. A grassy field in front of the building was leveled off so it could host soccer matches and outdoor events. Now that the Rec Center has become a permanent fixture in Westmoreland, the Borzas are ready to take the next steps. TJ says they're planning a building expansion. "We're going to build an additional space off the side of the facility, and that's going to be dedicated to baseball only." The addition will have a turf field, and the batting cages will be relocated there from the original building. "Where the batting cages are now, we're going to put in a nice lounge area with couches, TVs, a pool table, and stuff like that and make it a room for parties so we can hold larger scale events." One of TJs responsibilities has been to improve marketing. "I'm the only one really putting the time in here. The growth relies on me." Between college and USIndoor, TJ is armed with ideas to go out and make contacts and generate a sales lead list. Thanks to his experience with USIndoor, he launched a new website that's mobile-friendly. He's also working with social media and website analytics. "We can see you looking at our page. There are all these things that I didn't know before that I kinda know now that is really helping the growth of the business." Even with an expanding facility and improved marketing, however, he sees a limit. "This place is almost maxed out in that we're in Westmoreland, New York, where it's not the biggest population. In three or four years, once we put the addition off this, there's not much more we can do here." In five years, he thinks they'll be working on a second location, perhaps in Utica, Syracuse, or Watertown, though he knows they'll have to account for existing facilities in their plans. For now, he's happy to keep building on something that's been part of his life since childhood. "We're family-owned. We're very personable people. That's why I see us as a little different. Those are the compliments we get from people: the friendly staff, the clean place, and you know what you're going to get when you come here."
