"We're soccer guys," Owen says. "We obviously
started off with a lot of soccer. It was just the way we
were naturally. It was easier for us.
"I wish that I had maybe gotten into lacrosse a little bit
earlier, even though lacrosse wasn't that big here. It's
really grown. There's definitely other turf sports out
there that we're now creating those relationships."
With almost eight years of experience, Kanish and
Owen are working on a second facility in another part
of Reno. A developer was going to put in a family
entertainment facility on 19 acres but contacted the
Reno Sportsdome team about putting one of their
facilities there instead.
When it came to getting a bank loan for the new
location, Kanish found it much easier this time. "Three
of the managers that made the final decision on our
loan had their kids at our center and had played for
multiple years."
With groundbreaking imminent, work on the new,
124,000-square-foot facility will soon be underway.
Could they expand further, perhaps into other cities?
Never say never, says Owen, but he's taking it one
step at a time. "I'm trying not to get too far ahead
of myself, because the journey's just begun with this
new facility. I'm just excited to be able to get this new
facility up and running for this community."
"I couldn't ask for a better business partner and friend
to be doing this with," he says.
