The sounds of fall in Teton Valley are busting with wild and stuffed full of
color. There's the trickle of blue river water, the flicker of gold aspen leaves and the
ruckus of that big gray bird…or is it orange? The answer depends on what the greater
sandhill crane decides to wear while mingling with its mate at the great migration
party. We humans know it as the Greater Yellowstone Crane Festival hosted by Teton
Regional Land Trust in September.
"Cranes are conservation reliant," says Bill Dell'Isola, Teton Regional Land Trust conser-
vation biologist. "Without galvanizing community support, our efforts wouldn't be com-
plete at all. That's where the festival comes in."
