In this month's letter, let's look at some
very interesting and wonderful things
about the birth of Jesus—things that for
the most part have been lost because of
Christmas tradition. For instance, what
does the word Christmas actually
mean? Christ is the Greek translation of
the Hebrew word Messiah, which means
"the Anointed One." The word mas
means "celebration." So Christmas is
the celebration of the One anointed with
the burden- removing, yoke-destroying
power of THE ALMIGHTY GOD!
Let's begin by looking at Luke 2:1-5:
AND IT CAME TO PASS IN THOSE
DAYS, THAT THERE WENT OUT A
DECREE FROM CAESAR AUGUSTUS
THAT ALL THE WORLD SHOULD BE
TAXED. (AND THIS TAXING WAS
FIRST MADE WHEN CYRENIUS WAS
GOVERNOR OF SYRIA.) AND ALL
WENT TO BE TAXED, EVERY ONE
INTO HIS OWN CITY. AND ALSO
WENT UP FROM GALILEE, OUT OF
THE CITY OF NAZARETH, INTO
JUDAEA, UNTO THE CITY OF DAVID,
WHICH IS CALLED BETHLEHEM;
(BECAUSE HE WAS OF THE HOUSE
AND LINEAGE OF DAVID:) TO BE
