DONEECA THURSTON When we think of what we love about our chosen professions, I often hear "It's the people." Whether it's our colleagues or the customers, we are most satised when making those personal connections—either while leading a team to success or making customers happy. I know for me, it is the people I work with in the publishing industry and the readers who write to express how much they like the content of the magazine that have impacted me greatly. ey are the reasons why I love doing what I do. From my first editor, Barbara Tapp, at Atlanta Home and Lifestyles, to my associate editor at Cape Cod Life, Robert Ostergaard, to my mentor Patricia Poore, at Old-House Journal, I have worked with some incredibly talented, passionate, and kind people through the years. Today, I am most grateful for the team at Northshore magazine. Those words—talented, passionate, and kind—describe my colleagues to a T. I am grateful for the nearly 10 years I have gotten to work alongside creative director Ryan Jolley. I could not ask for a better person to create the editorial pages of Northshore magazine. And I love collaborating with him to share stories with our community about this special region we call home. In this issue, we celebrate 12 community leaders who share the same sentiments that I do—it's the people who make hard work and dedication worthwhile.
