Q&A by Dylan Loucks MHJ // Any former Luverne teammates that you want to give a shout-out to? Jaxon Nelson // Chaz Smedsrud. We were always on a line together growing up and played together for my three years of high school. He was the other guy who ended up going on to play Divison I at Union College, so us coming out of Luverne and both going Divison I is pretty special. MHJ // Is there a coach that had a big impact on you? Nelson // My dad. He got me started with hockey, he was my coach from Mini Mites all the way up to Bantams. He wasn't my coach in high school but he was my biggest supporter. Full Nelson Luverne alum Jaxon Nelson leads Gophers' quest for a national championship 18 M H J ON L I N E . You think you have him beat, then he just reaches around and pokes the puck off your stick. It's annoying, but I'm glad he's on our team and I don't have to go against him in games. MHJ // Favorite opponent? Nelson // North Dakota. Whether we're away or at home, the building is always packed. The atmosphere is always rocking and obviously, if we win, it makes it even better.
