The Remuda | Fall 2023 Edition 27 Student Spotlight DREW COOK You will probably recognize Drew from the 2023 Summer CE Symposium. He was one of our Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, volunteers for the meeting and worked hard helping with all the aspects of Symposium. Drew is originally from Temple, Texas and is on track to graduate in the spring of 2026. His fourth year track has a rural and mixed-animal focus. but he has been very involved in a variety of equine clubs during his time at Texas A&M. He served as the registration coordinator for the SCAAEP wet lab and the second year representative for the society of theriogenology. But his favorite vetmed experience to date is being able to work with and gain mentorship from Dr. Noah Cohen on the Rhodococcus equi study during his undergrad years at Texas A&M. Drew has been a part of a few aspects of TEVA — from volunteering at Symposium to Chicken Chats in College Station. He says that he's enjoyed all of them, especially the opportunity to network with practitioners during the Chicken Chats. Drew has received numerous awards and honors. He was the TAMU SCAAEP Student Scholarship recipient, won a Houston LIvestock Show and Rodeo Endowed Scholarship, and is a Summa Cum Laude graduate. He also has volunteered his time to not only TEVA, but also the TAMU SCAAEP Wet Lab, Meals on Wheels, and The Big Event. His horse interests started when he worked at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Park during college and was helping practitioners with multiple equine research projects. He does have interests outside of veterinary medicine that he enjoys, such as Aggie football, hunting, fishing, sports, hiking, and spending time with his friends and family. Thanks for being a part of TEVA, Drew! He can be reached at drewcook12@tamu.edu.
