Student Spotlight
SHANON PARK
Originally from Buda, Texas, I am now in my third year at Oklahoma State
University College of Veterinary Medicine. I serve as the Wet Lab
coordinator for the Society for Theriogenology, Treasurer for the
American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, the Oklahoma State Zoetis student representative, am an
AAEP club and national member, and a student TEVA member.
My favorite experiences thus far would have to be those that have taken place this past summer. I not only
had the opportunity to volunteer at the TEVA Symposium, but was also able to attend the Opportunities in
Equine Practice Seminar in Lexington, Kentucky. Through both experiences, I was able to connect with a
variety of different practitioners and learn about different aspects of equine veterinary medicine. The highlight
of my TEVA experience would be the student wet labs provided to teach us how to accurately complete FLASH
examinations and better understand equine anatomy using the ultrasound.
I grew up showing Arabians and horses have always had a special place in my heart. After completing my master's degree at Texas A&M
University – Commerce, I knew equine medicine was for me and being surrounded by supportive veterinarians has only made my choice
that much clearer.
After a busy day of classes, you can catch me out walking my two boxers around Boomer lake and spending time with my friends at
football games and campus events!
Thanks for being a part of TEVA, Shanon! She can be reached at shanon.park@okstate.edu.
