2023 OFF-ROAD EXPO The Off-Road Industry Gathers For SCORE’s 50th And More By SCORE Journal Staff Photos by Dan Sanchez The anticipation to see the historical off-road race course for the 56th SCORE Baja 1000, which stretches from La Paz to Ensenada, Mexico, culminated at the 2023 Off-Road Expo. In Building 7 of the Fairplex in Pomona, California, SCORE unveiled its 1310.94-mile course to a tremendous crowd of off-road fans and SCORE racing teams. It was their first glimpse of the final race celebrating the 50th Anniversary of SCORE International and the route heading up the Peninsula for the first time. Before and after the course map reveal, several racers were present signing autographs for SCORE fans and giving interviews with emcee Rat Sult. In attendance were Rob and Cayden MacCachren, Jason McNeil, Cody Reid, Shane Logan, and Luke Johnson, all of whom were excited to be racing at this year’s SCORE Baja 1000. Aside from the personalities and the course map reveal, the SCORE area at the Off-Road Expo had numerous vehicles including two SCORE Trophy Truck Spec vehicles, one from Terrible Herbst Motorsports of Huntington Beach, California, and another built by Jimco Racing Products of Santee, California.      Also on display was the Baja Vida VW Sedan Class 11 Bug driven in the SCORE series by Eric Brandt, and a classic stock VW Sedan owned by Greg Cottrell, founder and president of Rugged Radios. The area also had two of the race-built Polaris RZR UTVs belonging to Wayne and Kristen Matlock of Matlock Racing of Alpine, California. Moto fans were happy to see the No. 1x KTM 450SX-F motorcycle of 2022 Pro Moto Unlimited champion Juan Carlos Salvatierra, whose team with Shane Logan won the 4th SCORE Baja 400 to start first at the BFGoodrich Tires 56th SCORE Baja 1000 Presented by K&N.   EVERYTHING OFF-ROAD  While attendees crowded in Building 7 to see the SCORE racers, vehicles, and course map reveal, there was also an enormous gathering of the off-road industry across the Fairplex fairgrounds. Some of the things that stood out were pre-runners under construction, especially one from RJ Fab that included a complete chassis, roll cage, and suspension work, tucked perfectly into a vintage truck body. SCORE sponsors such as King Shocks had their latest racing and enthusiast truck products on display, as did Rugged Radios with a complete store with products and accessories available for purchase at discounted show prices.  There were also many displays outside of the buildings, including the latest designs and off-road specific wheels from Method Race Wheels, roof-top tents and accessories for Overlanding, and a variety of awesome vehicles on display from UTVs to Pre-runners, and more.  Crowds also flocked to the Off-Road Expo proving grounds where pre-runners and UTVs would put on an exhibition of spins, jumps, and burnouts. Attendees could also win prizes and more at displays such as the Ford booth, where the Ford F150 Lightning was on display, or the K&N Performance booth, where attendees could win apparel, products, and other prizes.  This 2023 Off-Road Expo was one of the best places to see everything the off-road industry had to offer and get great deals on parts and accessories. Each year, the Expo has continued to attract more enthusiasts into the world of off-road and its long history of which SCORE International has had a hand in its inception.
