IN RACE MODE Broc Dickerson Returns With A New Alumicraft SCORE Trophy Truck By Dan Sanchez Photos by Get Some Photo It’s been a full season since the young Broc Dickerson raced in SCORE, but he’s back with a brand new Alumicraft SCORE Trophy Truck that will debut at the King Shocks 37th SCORE San Felipe 250. The former multi-time Class 1 champion first dipped his toes into the SCORE Trophy Truck scene during the 2022 season and had a roller coaster ride that became a learning experience for him. “At that time we wanted to get into the SCORE Trophy Truck class but our truck was on order when COVID hit,” said Dickerson. “We also opted for an Albins sequential six-speed transmission which also took a long time to get and that delayed the truck even more. So we got an older TSCO truck and entered into the 2022 races and learned some lessons.” Dickerson DNF’d all but the SCORE Baja 500 when he finished second, but that was enough to give him the confidence and education he needed to come back for this 2024 season. “We’ve been out testing this new Alumicraft SCORE Trophy Truck and it’s amazing,” he said. “It has a larger Danzio Performance P620 Big Block engine combined with an Albins ST6 transmission; it’s a great combination. This is one of the first transmissions stateside and the wait was well worth it.” The new truck is a 2WD and Dickerson’s followers have commented on why he decided to get into a truck that they think is now outdated, with the abundance of AWD trucks coming into SCORE racing. “We feel this truck is capable of extremely fast speeds and it’s one of the first with this sequential transmission, so we know it’s capable,” says Dickerson. “The SCORE San Felipe 250 race course is perfect for this type of truck and although it requires a different driving style than an AWD, it’s something I’m more used to.” The new truck rides on 18-inch Method Race Wheels and 40-inch diameter BFGoodrich Baja T/A KR tires. The Alumicraft TT chassis has a 125” long wheelbase and is 91” wide. Front wheel travel is 24” while the rear has 30”. The suspension also uses Fox Factory racing shocks and Baja Designs LED lighting is mounted throughout the race truck. The Danzio P620 Trophy Truck engine can make anywhere from 900-1000 horsepower and the Albins ST6 can also be found in AWD trucks, with the ability to easily configure for either front, mid, or rear-mount use, and is one of the most sophisticated racing transmissions used in Baja. Inside a set of Sparco racing seats and Mastercraft Safety harnesses hold Dickerson and his navigator Edgar Sotelo firmly in place. A Lowrance GPS system and PCI Race Radio communications are also used on this new truck, along with a FluidLogic hydration system that feeds fluids directly through the race helmet. Dickerson is excited to be back in competition and has done extensive testing on the truck. He also plans on doing more testing before the race, in order to fine-tune the truck to his driving style. “Back in 2022 I know I pushed the truck we had then a bit too hard, so I’ve learned to back it down a little and work on my pacing,” he said. “I’m confident that when it all comes together, we have what it takes to be competitive and run with the fastest racers in this class.” Along with a very cool mustache over his lip, Broc Dickerson’s bright orange and black SCORE Trophy Truck will be easy to spot at this year’s SCORE San Felipe 250. As this new chapter for him and his team begins, Dickerson knows it takes time to become a SCORE Trophy Truck Champion, but he’s willing to put in the work to get there. SJ
